Victoria and Cole Agonize About Claire — and Phyllis Gets an Eyeful of Danny and Christine

At the Club, Danny finds Christine going through her mail. He says he just finished the song they collaborated on. She titters that he pretty much did it all. Danny tells her she’s an excellent muse. He pulls out the demo to let her hear it… on the condition that she joins him for lunch. Sharing a set of earbuds, Chris and Danny listen to the song. She tells him it’s beautiful. Danny muses, “Like the lady herself.”

Danny and Christine eat lunch and tease each other. Christine says she has the new song in her head. Danny tells her it was just an idea. Something wasn’t working, but being with her, he suddenly got a push and it all just came together. Chris says the song is incredible. They agree it should go on his new album. Danny thanks her for her encouragement. Between her and Phyllis, he’s found the inspiration he’s been needing. Chris gawps, “What?! Phyllis has inspired you too?”

At Crimson Lights, Chelsea accuses Summer of evading her question about the future. Summer argues you can’t design your future. Chelsea could tell she’s interested in Chance, “Or is it way past that?” Phyllis walks in and asks if she’s interrupting something. Summer says it’s just Marchetti business, but her mother thinks it was more intimate than that. Chelsea heads for the hills, and Phyllis sits down. “What’s going on? You’re not still shutting me out, are you?” It kills her that Summer doesn’t trust her enough to be truthful. Summer insists things are getting better between them. Phyllis argues that the minute she asks about her personal life, she clams up. She wonders if Summer and Chelsea were talking about Sharon and Chance. Summer tries to leave but Phyllis stops her. Summer exclaims, “What do you want from me?!” Phyllis cries, “What do you want from me?!” She is trying to change but her daughter keeps putting up a wall. How is she supposed to respond to something like that?

Summer admits she lied about her conversation with Chelsea. It’s practically an instinct now. She realizes she needs to give her a chance to prove herself. Phyllis knows it’s about Chance. Summer reiterates that she’s not going to pursue him. Phyllis knows that, but the heart wants what it wants. Summer confides that she finds herself going back and forth between thinking she should try to work things out with Kyle eventually, and wanting Chance so badly that it makes her dizzy. Phyllis and Summer discuss whether her marriage to Kyle is unsalvageable. Summer says it probably is, and she’s only thinking about it to distract herself from her feelings for Chance. Summer shrugs her shoulders. There’s no point in talking about Chance because he’s unattainable. Phyllis laughs, “No. If I’ve learned one thing in my life and one thing only, it’s that nothing is unattainable if you want it badly enough.”

At Society, Billy asks Jill when she got into town. Jill clucks that she wasn’t ghosting him. She has a little breathing room now and is looking forward to catching up with her son. Jill wants to let him in on something, “I am positive Mamie Johnson is trying to pull a fast one on me.” Billy asks why she thinks this. Jill reports that she’s aligned herself with Tucker McCall. Billy asks why she’d do something so foolish. Jill says Mamie wants to make a move on her and McCall’s a great ally. She assumes Tucker wants to take the company away from her, and Mamie wants her family to run it. Jill asks her son, “How content are you working at Jabot right now?”

Jill has found herself out-numbered in her own company. The Winters are thinking about bringing Nate back despite his blind ambition not having gone anywhere. She has to fight fire with fire and bring some of her own family into upper management. “How about it, baby? Would you be willing to step away from Jabot and come work with me at Chancellor-Winters?” Chelsea joins them as Jill tells Billy he may be her only hope. She asks if this is a bad time. Jill says, “Yes,” and Billy says, “No.” He’d like her to hear his mother’s proposition. He explains that Jill wants him to resign from Jabot and join her at Chancellor-Winters. Chelsea gawps, “That’s major.” Billy reminds his mother he had a rocky time with Lily while he was there. Jill’s convinced he’s finally learning from his mistakes. Billy mutters about the back-handed compliment. Jill questions his relationship with Jack. Billy feels he owes him everything. Jill thinks that’s up for debate, but asks if he’s willing to leave him to join forces with her.

Nikki, Victor, Nick, Victoria, and Cole file into the ranch living room. Victor sighs, “What an ordeal,” and vows that the lunatics who did this to them will pay the price. Nikki eyeballs the vodka bottle as Victor insists Jordan will join Claire in prison. Nikki flashes to the IV and drinking the vodka bottle she later smashed while imprisoned at the lake house.

Nikki hands Nick some water and Cole talks about the need to stay away from alcohol for the next few days after being poisoned. They go over the women wanting revenge for things that never actually happened. Victor fumes over what they put Nikki through, and Victoria agrees it’s heartbreaking. Nick adds, “It’s vicious.” Nikki says the vodka has left her system and she’s feeling stronger. “I will be fine,” she insists. The worst art of this is realizing she fell for Claire’s deception. Victor promises those two women will pay for what they have done. Victoria almost feels sorry for Claire, who was lied to her whole life. Nikki can’t believe this — she’s heartless. How could she feel anything but contempt for her?!

Victor doesn’t think Claire deserves their compassion. Nick says she certainly gets no pity from him. Victoria asks them to think about her being raised by that psychotic woman, who drummed it into her brain that they abandoned her. She learned to hate every one of them. “How is she not also Jordan’s victim.” Nick argues Claire had choices to make and chose wrong. Victoria says she’s been in Jordan’s clutches since birth. They wonder if Jordan is even Eve’s sister. Cole says his mother had a sister and they weren’t close. Victor had his people check her out and the report just came in. Victor reveals that Jordan is Eve Howard’s sister. Same mother, different father, and she was a registered nurse. Cole knows her aunt was a traveling nurse. Victor says she registered as a nurse at Memorial for a short time around the time that Victoria gave birth. She then left a short time after the baby died. Victoria gawps, “What? That can’t be true? Jordan can’t be telling the truth about stealing our daughter, can she?”

At Crimson Lights, Summer can’t believe Phyllis is telling her to stop at nothing to get what she wants. Phyllis doesn’t like seeing her daughter so torn up; she wants her to follow her heart. You only get one shot at life, it’s not a dress rehearsal. Summer says her dilemma is not that bad. She’s focusing on work and it’s for the best. Phyllis just wants her to know she cares. She won’t meddle, “You come to me next time.” Summer asks what’s going on with her. How are she and Daniel getting on at Omegasphere? “Is there anything going on in your personal life?” Phyllis smiles coyly and says she’ll tell Summer over lunch.

At the Club, Danny tells Christine that he’s seen how Phyllis is trying to be a better person. They talked about fresh starts and his lyrics came together. He figured, “Give credit where credit is due.” Chris teases that she’ll have to share her cut of the royalties with the redhead. Danny tells her they’re apples and oranges, “Don’t compare yourself to Phyllis, I’m not.”

At the ranch, Cole can’t get over Jordan brainwashing Claire all of those years, “And all of this was done because of my mother?” Victoria says, “She had to know it would devastate you too.” Cole can’t understand any of it. Nikki says the woman is certifiable. They wonder if Jordan inherited Eve’s mental affliction. Victoria and Cole remark that Claire was shocked when Jordan admitted she’d stolen her from the hospital. Cole doesn’t believe that this was a con on Claire’s part, “She’s convinced we’re her parents.” Victoria shakes her head, “But it’s just not… it’s not possible, is it?” Nikki can’t believe the young woman didn’t question her aunt at some point. Victor guesses that Jordan would have anticipated that and come up with some proof. Victoria holds up her hands, “Just stop.” They’re talking about this as though it could be true, like Claire could be theirs. “Then what baby died? I’m sorry I can’t wrap my brain around any of this.” She walks out and Nikki moves to follow, but Cole wants to talk to Victoria in private.

Nikki, Nick, and Victor continue to go over their ordeal. Nikki feels guilty for falling into this nightmare and pulling them in with her. Victor feels that if anyone’s to blame it’s him, “My past with Eve Howard.” Nikki wonders if Jordan is telling the truth about Claire being Victoria and Cole’s daughter.

More: Will Victoria forgive Claire?

At Society, Victoria and Cole go over the unsettling way they were brought together. She asks how he came to show up at the house. Cole says he got a text from Nikki saying Victoria was sick and asking for him. Victoria realizes Claire had her mother’s phone. She then says, “We’re talking around it, Cole.” He knows. Victoria muses, “We were so young. Eve was so weak, so frail. She needed to fight but obviously she couldn’t. When she didn’t make it…” Cole finishes, “I don’t think either of us were ever the same.” Whatever closure they might have gotten over the years has now been ripped apart. Victoria wipes away tears, “Do you think it’s possible that Claire is our daughter that we only though we buried?”

At the Club, Christine tells Danny that lunch was fun and looks forward to his new album coming out. She asks if he can send her that song so she can listen to it again, “What’s it called by the way?” Danny replies, “Hawaii on My Mind.” They kiss as Phyllis walks in with Summer.

At Society, Billy tells Jill that there have been challenges at Jabot, but Tucker’s as much a threat to Jabot as she thinks he is to Chancellor-Winters. Jill says Jack has Ashley and Kyle. She has no one, “I need you, Billy.”

At the ranch, Nick thinks a DNA test would be a good start. Nikki thinks Victoria must be reeling. Nick remembers when she and Cole had to say goodbye to their baby. Nikki muses that between Victor not trusting her at Newman and this, it’s enough to make anyone act out. She glances over at the vodka bottle.

At Society, Cole wishes he had answers. Maybe Jordan’s lying. If what Jordan claims is actually true, then Claire Grace could be their premature baby all grown up, “We need to find out one way or the other and I think that starts with facing Claire again.”
