Denis Zakaria says he is really happy at AS Monaco right now after difficult spells at Chelsea and Juventus.
Denis Zakaria recently spoke to RMC Sport about his time at the two European giants.
Chelsea signed Zakaria from Juventus on loan last September, but the 27-year-old failed to make much of an impact at Stamford Bridge.
In total, Zakaria made just seven appearances for the Blues in the Premier League. This term, he has already played 12 times for Monaco in Ligue 1, so it is no surprise to hear that he is happy right now.
The Switzerland international returned to Juventus after his unsuccessful loan spell at Stamford Bridge before the Italian club offloaded him to Monaco in the summer transfer window.
Denis Zakaria happy after leaving Chelsea and Juventus
When asked how it felt to have a major role at Monaco after his difficult spells at Chelsea and Juventus, Zakaria told RMC Sport: “It feels good. Honestly, it’s been a long time since I last played so many matches.
“It’s true that for all football players it’s a very important thing to play, to continue. So yeah, I’m really, really happy about that.”
Discussing his time at Stamford Bridge and the Allianz Stadium in more detail, he went on to add: “I think in the end it wasn’t easy but it was the moment when I learned the most in my career.
“After a period like that, you learn that nothing is taken for granted and you always have to work to be where you want to be. It made me think a lot. I try to work as best I can to live through this kind of period, because for a player it is very, very complicated.”
Chelsea have moved on from Denis Zakaria
Zakaria was never a bad player for Chelsea; he just never played for them during his time there.
Ultimately, the Blues bringing him in proved to be a failed experiment, one they have quickly moved on from.
Following Zakaria’s return to Juventus, Chelsea brought in Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to improve their midfield.
Mauricio Pochettino now has the two summer signings, Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher and Lesley Ugochukwu to choose from when assembling his midfield.
It is easy to see, then, that Chelsea have put Zakaria’s failed loan behind them and just moved forward.
They will be happy with the midfield options that are now at Stamford Bridge, while the former Juventus star is also feeling quite positive at this moment in time.
