A young African lady named Favour Peters has fought back successfully to graduate from the university with a first-class bachelor’s degree after she was rejected by five different scholarship organizations in an attempt to gain university admission.
Favour obtained her bachelors degree in in Disability and Rehabilitation Studies with a first class at Kwame Nkrumah University, Ghana. Narrating her story on Linkedin, she said she is excited to have finally graduated from the university.
She stated that after she graduated from high school she applied to five different scholarships and was rejected by all. Favour said she had to stay back a year to work menial jobs at the age of 16 to help her parents raise enough money to cover her school fees.
She mentioned that she enrolled in the university at the age of 17 as the first person in her family to attend the university. She added that she entered with a scholarship but did not let her financial challenges stop her from reaching the goal she had set for herself.
Favour stated that her parents encouraged her to be relentless and hopeful. She said she would always remember the word of her father, “When there is a will, there is a way” encouraging her.
She mentioned that fortunately for her, she was selected for the Empowering Africa fully funded scholarship to complete her university education. Favour said her accommodation was also covered by the office of the Director of Student Affairs at the university.
She stated that she was also selected for the H. E. John A. Kufuor Scholars Program and the Young African Leadership Initiative, West Africa in her senior year.
Favour was awarded the College of Health Sciences Excellence Award for the overall best innovative student in the School of Public Health, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
She stated that she felt so proud that she never stopped pushing. She said she is grateful for all the support and love she received at the university throughout her four years.
Favour cheers to the end of her degree stating that it is a beautiful journey start of many more wonderful beginnings expressing a positive and hopeful belief for the future.
