Blackpink continues to set many great records despite temporarily suspending group activities for more than a year.
The British Phonographic Industry Association (BPI) announced that Blackpink’s album “Born Pink” has officially been honored with a Silver Brit Certification, meaning they have achieved 60,000 copies sold domestically.
Thanks to this new milestone, Blackpink has become the first female K-pop artist to have two albums certified silver in the UK. Previously, “The Album” also achieved this special certification in 2020.
Currently, Blackpink is focusing on the members’ solo careers.
On her birthday, February 11, Rosé briefly released her self-composed song ‘Vampirehollie’ through her account. The female idol surprised everyone when she released a self-composed song.
Not only Rosé but Blackpink members are receiving a lot of support from fans when the group announced that they will work together and work solo.
Since debuting in 2016, Blackpink has now entered its 8th year. Blackpink continues to operate as a group only with YG Entertainment.
In December last year, YG announced, “We have signed a contract extension for Blackpink’s group activities” and “individual activities will continue without a separate additional contract.”
The first person to announce that she would go solo was member Jennie. Jennie founded her personal brand ODD ATELIER with her mother.
Her first solo activity was appearing on KBS 2TV’s ‘The Seasons – Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet’ and received a standing ovation from the audience.
In addition to Jennie, Blackpink’s Jisoo and Lisa are also participating in their own solo artistic activities.
Accordingly, Jisoo plans to continue her personal activities with Blissoo, the children’s health supplement manufacturing company founded by her brother.
She also announced that she will star in the movie ”Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint”, marking her transition to acting.
Lisa announced the creation of ‘LLOUD’ (loud) on February 8 through her account as a way to express her vision of music and entertainment.
