Korean audiences are heatedly debating the future of YG Entertainment after losing the contract with Big Bang and the individual contracts with BLACKPINK members.
Recently, the audience has been buzzing about the news that YG Entertainment’s TREASURE will participate in a reality dating show called Shining SOLO with other social media influencers. This information has met with many mixed opinions from Korean audiences.
Specifically, when delving deeper into TREASURE’s upcoming projects with YG-affiliated artists, the audience expressed concerns about their incompatibility with the current K-Pop era. For K-Pop idols, dating is an “underground” taboo and is often difficult to accept by fans. Therefore, TREASURE’s public participation in the dating program may cause the group to encounter many obstacles and not be supported.

Another example of YG’s difficulties is when the company announced Sechskies’ concert, which made fans extremely excited. However, in response to this information, the members all declared their refusal to participate. 3 members even continued to temporarily suspend all activities in the entertainment industry.
With BLACKPINK, although they still signed a group contract with YG, all four girls left as individuals. Currently, these solo activities are supported by fans, showing that Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé do not need YG’s support like in previous years.
YG is actually still making efforts in the hope of being able to train the next generation of stars, succeeding the success of BLACKPINK, WINNER, iKON… However, at the present time, the audience is concerned that Upcoming projects are still not enough for YG to recover during this crisis.
