“She can beat me, but she cannot beat my outfit”: Proof that Rihanna’s style is unmatched

Everyone get on your knees and say a prayer. It’s Rihanna’s birthday, which means it’s time to contemplate what our world would be without her? Flavourless. Fenty-less. Sad, is the answer. Honestly, we have a lot to thank Ms Robyn Fenty for. She’s a true pioneer. Whether it’s through music, beauty – a world she opened up and expanded for people of colour – or fashion, no one can hold a candle to her.

Especially as far as fashion is concerned, Rihanna continues to push the limits. She was years ahead of the pack when she wore a Swarovski crystal-encrusted Adam Selman “naked” gown to receive the Style Icon Award at the 2014 CFDA Awards. Rihanna reinvigorated our idea of pregnancy dressing, tossing away images of the modest mother, and stepping out in sheer, glitzy two pieces with her baby bump proudly exposed.

Her Savage X Fenty lingerie line arrived at a time when many women felt disillusioned with institutions like Victoria’s Secret. Instead, we looked to concepts like body positivity and body neutrality, and Savage X Fenty’s annual runway affirmed this pursuit. And yes, every Met Gala we’re willing to wait (even after the broadcast has concluded) for Rihanna to walk the stairs of the Met, immediately rising to the top of every best-dressed list.

So what’s her secret? Like every It Girl, Rihanna possesses a quality you can’t quite put your finger on; her’s is a cocktail of confidence, an IDGAF attitude, and a magpie-like eye for a fashion spectacle. Without further ado, find the best of Rihanna’s style, below.

Supreme Court hearing which will determine the definition of a woman begins TODAY – in a case with major implications for female-only spaces

A Supreme Court hearing that will determine the definition of a woman begins today in a case with major implications for female-only spaces. The case – which has been brought by gender-critical activists – will see five justices consider the question: ‘Is a person with a full gender recognition certificate which recognises that their gender is female, a ‘woman’ for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010?’ Feminist group For Women Scotland (FWS) will argue that trans women should not be able to fill roles meant for biological women under legislation designed to ensure equal numbers of men and women on company boards.
