A$AP Rocky isn’t holding back when it comes to his fallout with Drake. During an interview promoting his latest album, Don’t Be Dumb, the Harlem rapper opened up about the end of his friendship with the Toronto artist, citing issues around personal boundaries and ego.

Rocky, who has been in a relationship with Rihanna since 2020 and shares three children with her, criticized Drake’s past lyrics about his partner. The “STOLE YA FLOW” artist referred to the lines from Drake’s 2023 track Fear of Heights, in which he seemingly aimed shots at Rihanna. In the song, Drake sings, “Yeah, and the sex was average with you,” which many believe was directed at Rihanna. Rocky was quick to call out these remarks as “soft” and unnecessary.

“I think at some certain point when everybody getting older and you supposed to be moving on, for you to still be picking at a female, that’s soft to me,” Rocky said, making it clear that he felt Drake’s shots were below the belt. He added that the tension between them was likely caused by issues involving “females” and that Drake wasn’t happy about something. “I feel like it’s over females,” he stated. “I feel like he wasn’t happy, and he expressed that.”

However, Rocky clarified that the beef wasn’t personal or serious. “It’s not real smoke,” he explained. “We was once friends. But I just don’t f**k with him.” He also mentioned that the rivalry is more about Hip Hop’s competitive nature, comparing it to “wrestling,” and emphasized that there’s enough success to go around for everyone.

Despite the tension, Rocky stated that he wasn’t putting out music solely to respond to Drake. “I ain’t put out music for me to really say something back,” he said, while also acknowledging that the drama felt petty. “It’s enough money, it’s enough women, it’s enough fame, spotlights to go around,” he added, indicating that the issues between them are not worth the energy they once may have carried.
