The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live starts strong, breaking AMC’s viewership records. Consisting of six episodes, with Scott M. Gimple and star Danai Gurira as creators, the latest Walking Dead spinoff takes place after the events of the original series and features Andrew Lincoln and Gurira reprising their roles as Rick Grimes and Michonne. Pollyanna McIntosh is also back as Jadis, with the story revolving around the reunion of the two main characters.

Deadline reports that the premiere episodes of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live garnered 3 million viewers after three days of availability. It has become the biggest premiere night audience for a new AMC series in six years, since 2018’s premiere of The TerrorIn terms of streaming, the spinoff is now the most-watched episode of any show ever on AMC+. Although specific streaming details are not revealed, it’s mentioned that The Ones Who Live outpaced the first week of viewership for any season premiere on the platform.

The Walking Dead’s Ratings Success Continues

The Ones Who Live is only the latest example of a Walking Dead spinoff making a ratings splash. The trend kicked into high gear with Dead City, which saw Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan coming back as Negan and Maggie. In June 2023, it was noted that Dead City had had the biggest premiere of any season on AMC+ since the platform began in 2020. 2 million viewers also watched it in its first three days of availability.

The strong performance of Dead City was only surpassed in October by The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The Norman Reedus-led spinoff took the crown, becoming the biggest start for any show in the history of AMC+. At the time, Daryl Dixon was on the way to becoming the most-viewed season of any show in the history of AMC+. Based on the latest data, The Ones Who Live maintains a hot streak for The Walking Dead franchise.
