Eric Kripke, the showrunner of The Boys, provides a positive update on the highly anticipated release of the satirical superhero series’ fourth season.
The Boys will soon be wreaking havoc once again as Season 4 draws nearer. The satirical superhero series’ creator, Eric Kripke, provides a major update on the upcoming season’s progress ahead of its release.
Via his X (formerly Twitter) account, Kripke confirmed that Season 4 of The Boys is “completely, totally and absolutely done” ahead of its June premiere. Kripke also praised the cast and crew of Season 4, teasing that the upcoming season “could be our best yet” and expressed his excitement about its premiere.
The Boys Season 4 wrapped filming in April of last year, with the season expected to pick up after the events of Gen V Season 1. Season 4 has also teased the continuation of major story arcs from Season 3, including Homelander’s (Antony Starr) murder trial following the killing of a supporter and supporting the condescending Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) during her presidential run.
The upcoming season of The Boys promises more gory and bizarre moments, with Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell), Simon Pegg (Hugh Campbell Sr.) and Erin Moriarty (Annie January) all returning. Additionally, Jensen Ackles will return as Soldier Boy while Jeffery Dean Morgan debuts in the hit series.
How Long Will The Boys Last?
Kripke has long outlined a five-season plan for The Boys, though he has since hinted that the show could pass that benchmark if the feedback and ideas warrant it. Recent reports indicated that Amazon secretly greenlit a Season 5 renewal for The Boys, with a production listing claiming principal photography for the season will begin this month and run until August.
Premiering in 2019, The Boys has won an Emmy and multiple Saturn Awards during its run, winning acclaim for its dark humor and presentation. The black comedy drama scored a 98% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 3, the best rating the show has enjoyed.
The Boys Season 4 premieres via Prime Video on Jun. 13 with a triple-episode debut before new episodes air each Thursday.
