Season two production has been put on hold.
Gen V’s second season has been confirmed, however production has respectfully come to a halt following the sad passing of cast member Chance Perdomo in late March.
Chance and his character Andre were an integral part of the show, and so the devastating news will undoubtedly change the shape of the season two arc.
Here’s everything we know about Gen V’s season two development.
Gen V season 2 potential release date: When’s it on?
Gen V has officially been confirmed for season two. However, production has been paused indefinitely due to the untimely passing of core cast member Chance Perdomo.
Chance, who played the teen Supe Andre Anderson, tragically died in a motorcycle accident on March 29. He was only 27 years old.
The Gen V cast has shared a joint tribute to Chance, with many sharing their own personal memories of their co-star and friend.
Sean Patrick Thomas, who plays Chance’s on-screen father in Gen V, praised his “blinding intellect” and “raw talent” in an Instagram tribute to the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star.
Lizze Broadway honoured Chance’s “interpersonal gifts” and “gentle spirit” in a handwritten tribute shared on Instagram.
Gen V season 2 cast: Who will be coming back?
Chance Perdomo’s sad passing naturally puts a question mark on what will happen to his character Andre. It’s too soon to speculate over whether or not another actor will take on the role, or if the character will be written out of the series.
Of the other cast members, we do expect the return of the following:
• Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau
• Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer
• Derek Luh and London Thor as Jordan Li
• Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap
• Asa Germann as Sam Riordan
• Sean Patrick Thomas as Polarity
There are a number of cast members who we think won’t return. Indira Shetty, played by Shelley Conn, didn’t make it out of the first season alive. The evil Supe-hating dean was inadvertently killed by Cate, who used her mind manipulation powers to bring about her death.
Marco Pigossi’s doctor Edison Cardosa was killed by a cameoing star from The Boys. Victoria Neuman popped up in Gen V very briefly to reveal she and Marie have the same powers – and to off the good doctor and steal the Supe-killing virus he created.
Patrick Schwarzenegger’s ‘Golden Boy’ Luke was killed off in episode one but has since hung around as a manifestation of Cate’s memories/unravelling psyche and as a conscience for his brother Sam – so there is a possibility that we’ve not seen the last of the character.
Gen V season 2 plot: What will happen?
Much is still up in the air, but working with what we know, season two of Gen V will pick up after season four of The Boys, which will also feature characters from the spin-off.
By then, Marie and the crew will no doubt have made their way out of whatever confinement they’ve found themselves in at the end of season one.
Having made an enemy of Homelander and been blacklisted as Godolkin murderers, there seems to be only one natural solution for the Gen V crew’s predicament – some kind of team-up with The Boys (to be clear, we’re talking about Butcher’s crew).
Billy’s snooping around The Woods in a mid-credits scene during the season one finale suggests as much. Butcher and co may be able to teach the Godolkin outcasts a thing or two about fighting the institution.
Things have also gotten particularly interesting now that the Supe virus is in the hands of Victoria Neuman. Of course, being a Supe, she has no intention to make the disease go viral. However, she will most certainly weaponise it to her advantage.
We can think of a few people she’d like to use it on, but we doubt Marie will be one of them. There was a certain nugget of kinship which blossomed between Newman and Marie in the penultimate episode of Gen V‘s first season, owing to them having the same ‘undesirable’ blood-based power.
It’s possible she may seek to make an ally of Marie, and although they are on opposite sides of the villain/hero coin, it’s possible Marie cultivates an uneasy partnership to further her own objectives.
