African man wins global award for dedication to teaching village school kids, draws Microsoft word interface on blackboard in absence of computer

Richard Appiah Akoto, a Ghanian teacher, has dazzled the world with his abilities and unwavering commitment to empowering his students with computer literacy.

Richard, a teacher at the Betenase Municipal Assembly Junior High School in Ghana, utilized chalk to accurately depict the Microsoft Word user interface on a chalkboard.

He was able to complete such a challenging undertaking because of his perseverance to make sure his students understood how to utilize computers.

His deed drew the attention of Microsoft and other businesses around the world, who all acknowledged that such dedication supports advancement in education.

In an effort to demonstrate his students what a computer screen looks like, he was also rumored to be known for drawing computer equipment on the chalkboard, including monitors, system units, keyboards, mice, formatting toolbars, etc.

Richard participated in the Microsoft Educator Exchange in Singapore, where he was given a standing ovation by other educators who recognized the difference he had made.

“I wanted to teach them how to [use] Microsoft Word. But I had no computer to show them. I had to do my best. So, I decided to draw what the screen looks like on the blackboard with chalk,” Akoto said in an interview with Microsoft at the event
