If you haven’t watched ‘The Boys’ latest season on Prime Video yet, you really should do so immediately.
The show imagines a universe where superpowered heroes exist in the world, but they’re all self-centered, egotistical bastards. It’s a stinging, completely screwed-up satire of superhero culture. The most notable of them is Homelander, a superhero who loves Jesus and is all-American with blue eyes and blond hair, wearing the US flag as a cape.
You’re correct if you’re thinking, “Wow, that sounds just like Captain America.” Many of the superheroes in ‘The guys’ are parodies of well-known superheroes, such as A-Train and the Flash, Black Noir and Batman, and Queen Maeve and Wonder Woman.
But in this deepfake, Chris Evansβthe actor behind Captain Americaβplays Homelander, taking it a step further. To be fair to Antony Starr, you can’t picture Chris Evans playing Homelander any better, so it’s a testament to him that he nails the job.
Even still, it’s a little frightening to look at this.
