With Jensen Ackles as Solider Boy in The Boys, several other Supernatural alumni should join the antihero Supes.
The hit TV show The Boys stars some fantastic performers who also appear in Supernatural, but there are others from the show that should join the “supes.” A few Supernatural cast members have previously appeared in The Boys, including actor Jim Beaver, who plays Bobby Singer in both episodes. However, Jensen Ackles stands out the most. Ackles is well known for his role as Dean Winchester in Supernatural, and he also plays Solider Boy in The Boys. The Soldier Boy twist in The Boys season 3 has startled viewers, heightening interest for the forthcoming season.
The Boys’ fourth season, which premieres in June 2024, will feature several new characters. Ackles will no longer be the lone Supernatural alumnus joining the cast of The Boys for season 4. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Rob Benedict, who play John Winchester and Chuck on Supernatural, respectively, will appear in the next season of The Boys, but it is unclear which characters they will play. With so many former Supernatural cast members joining The Boys, it’s worth thinking who else would be a good fit for the show.
Notable Supernatural Cast Members | Supernatural Character |
---|---|
Jared Padalecki | Sam Winchester |
Misha Collins | Castiel |
Mark Sheppard | Crowley |
Felicia Day | Charlie Bradbury |
Genevieve Padalecki | Ruby |
Samantha Smith | Mary Winchester |
Mitch Pileggi | Samuel Campbell |
Mark Pellegrino | Nick/Lucifer |
8 Jared Padalecki
Plays Sam Winchester In Supernatural
Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester in Supernatural, is a name that frequently pops up in relation to The Boys. It’s already clear that Padalecki and Ackles have great on-screen chemistry, having worked together for decades as the Winchester brothers, which is why Padalecki would be a great addition to The Boys’ cast. It would be amazing to see the two perform together once again, especially as very different characters to Sam and Dean, who are the staples of their respective careers.
“Regardless of Supernatural, Padalecki is a solid actor with a good range, and so he is just as deserving of being cast in The Boys as any other performer.”
The Sam Winchester actor has been voicing his interest in joining the show, and according to audiences, there’s already a perfect role for Jared Padalecki in The Boys season 4. Whether he’ll ever appear in The Boys or not is unclear, but given the tight relationship he has with Ackles, it’s not impossible. Regardless of Supernatural, Padalecki is a solid actor with a good range, and so he is just as deserving of being cast in The Boys as any other performer.
7 Misha Collins
Plays Castiel In Supernatural
In Supernatural, Misha Collins portrays the angel Castiel, who has an engaging and emotional romance storyline with Dean throughout the show. The charming Collins has already proven his ability to work with Ackles brilliantly, which further argues why he should be cast in The Boys. Although it’s unlikely that Ackles and Collins would be involved in another love story, their time together on Supernatural does prove their flexibility as actors and how strong their on-screen chemistry is.
“The “supes” have a unique outlook on life, much like Castiel does, making Collins an ideal option to portray a new superhero in the show.”
6 Mark Sheppard
Plays Crowley In Supernatural
Mark Sheppard is best known for playing Crowley, the King of Hell, in Supernatural. Crowley has some great moments in Supernatural and takes any and every opportunity to cause as much chaos for the Winchesters as he can, although he is occasionally an ally to them as well. The British actor is a big name in sci-fi TV shows and portrays various roles in titles such as Firefly, Star Trek: Voyager, and the 2007 Battlestar Galactica reboot.
“Sheppard’s decorated career proves why he’s a great candidate to join The Boys.”
5 Felicia Day
Plays Charlie Bradbury In Supernatural
Felicia Day plays Charlie Bradbury in Supernatural. After the character’s death in season 10, Day returns to play an alternative version of the character in season 13. The former hacker becomes a hunter in Supernatural, building a strong bond with Sam and Dean, with a dark past that makes her even more interesting. Outside of acting, Day is very active in the video game world and is the creator and star of The Guild, a web series about a fantasy MMORPG.
“Because of her prominence in the sci-fi and fantasy genres, both on and off-screen, Day could easily fit in on The Boys.”
4 Genevieve Padalecki
Plays Ruby In Supernatural
Genevieve Padalecki portrays the demon Ruby in Supernatural, which is how she met her husband, Jared. In Supernatural season 4, she replaces Katie Cassidy as Ruby, kicking off her time as the character in a storyline with Ruby developing a strange love affair with Sam Winchester. Genevieve Padalecki also plays herself in the fourth-wall-breaking story, “The French Mistake,” one of Supernatural‘s best episodes. Outside of Supernatural, the actress also plays Kris Furillo in Wildfire and Emily Walker in Walker.
“The Boys continues to soar in popularity with each season, which could help give Genevieve Padalecki a well-deserved boost in her career.”
3 Samantha Smith
Plays Mary Winchester In Supernatural
Samantha Smith is best known as Mary Winchester in Supernatural, the matriarch of the family and mother of Dean and Sam. Smith causes a huge impact on Supernatural in her first appearance, especially as the character of Mary was only mentioned in passing until she appears in the episode “Keep Calm and Carry On.” Other than Mary, Samantha Smith also plays Sarah Lennox, the wife of Captain William Lennox (Josh Duhamel) in the 2007 live-action Transformers movie.
“With Jeffrey Dean Morgan joining The Boys season 4, casting Samantha Smith opens up the opportunity for the two to work together once again.”
2 Mitch Pileggi
Plays Samuel Campbell In Supernatural
Sam and Dean encounter both of their grandfathers in Supernatural at different points, and Mitch Pileggi plays Samuel Campbell, Mary’s father. Pileggi’s most recognizable role is as Walter Skinner, the FBI’s Assistant Director, in The X-Files, remaining with the series until its end and also appearing in the 1998 The X-Files and 2008 The X-Files: I Want To Believe movies. However, the actor also stars in some interesting roles in other big titles, such as Colonel Steven Caldwell in Stargate Atlantis and Ernest Darby in Sons of Anarchy.
“Pileggi has a brilliantly diverse career and stars in several TV series that come from wildly different genres.”
1 Mark Pellegrino
Plays Nick/Lucifer In Supernatural
In Supernatural, Mark Pellegrino plays Lucifer, also known as the Devil, until season 14, when he becomes Nick, Lucifer’s vessel. Pellegrino also appears as Sadik Marku in Without a Trace, alongside two Supernatural alumni in two different episodes: Mark Sheppard and Rachel Miner, who plays a demon, Meg Masters. Pellegrino also portrays some fascinating characters with big personalities in other TV shows, including Jacob in Lost and, most recently, Virgil Poe in American Rust.
“Pellegrino also has an incredible acting range and brings anticipation and excitement to every scene he appears in, something Antony Starr is repeatedly praised for in his role as Homelander.”
