Mark Ruffalo is not one to go against Emma Stone’s wishes.

While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter recently, Stone, 35, revealed she likes it when people call her by her real name, Emily, instead of Emma.

On Saturday, April 27, Ruffalo, 56, insisted he would do just that, writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Okay. We love you, Emily.”

The Hulk actor, who starred in the 2023 film Poor Things alongside Stone, shared a link to a Guardian article citing THR‘s quotes.

THR asked in the piece whether Stone would correct a fan who called her by her actual name. “No. That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily,” she said.

Stone told the outlet “people that I work with” call her Emily, “when I get to know them,” adding that she made her stage name “Emma Stone” because Emily Stone “was taken” by another actress who was a member of SAG-AFTRA before her.

“Then I freaked out a couple of years ago,” Stone, who did the interview alongside her The Curse costar Nathan Fielder, 40, recalled. “For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.’ Nathan calls me Em, which is easier.”

Ruffalo’s post came after he hailed Stone as “a once-in-a-generation talent” in December.

While speaking to PEOPLE, the actor said while referencing Stone’s performance in their movie Poor Things, “She’s just so game. I mean, this is probably one of the most daring female performances in decades, in a sense.”

“It’s just the kind of fearlessness that she has and a presence, and I mean presence with you as an actor,” he went on. “She’s just right there, no matter what you do she goes with you. And she’s a great talent.”

Stone plays Bella Baxter in the movie, which is based on Alasdair Gray’s 1992 novel of the same name. Bella is a woman on a journey of awakening after undergoing an experiment by mad scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter, played by Willem Dafoe, 68.

Meanwhile, Ruffalo stars as Duncan Wedderburn, a debauched lawyer whom Bella runs off with to explore the world. Stone won the Best Actress Oscar in March for her performance, while Ruffalo was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
