“It was really devastating, we were completely shocked,” Alana told CBC from their home in Calgary, Canada.

“Our money’s gone.”

“It’s years of savings and we’ve been feeling very, fearful these past couple of months, like from gas to groceries.”

Alana’s money was transferred from her Bank of Montreal, aka as BMO, account without her authorization.

The mom has been saving up $10,000 for a down payment to a house for her and her family.

She also decided to work part-time after giving birth to get to her savings goal and now feels that time was wasted when she could have been with her baby.

SACRIFICES

“It’s like that’s my maternity leave like that is everything,” Alana said in a CBC video.

“I only work part-time

“At the end of the day, you might come up with $10,000 from part-time work once your maternity leave is over and that’s just gone.

“It’s upsetting because even personally making sacrifices to even put yourself $10,000 forward.”

Her husband, Caleb, is freaked out over the money disappearing and has concerns about it every day since the incident.

“The fear is that the little bit of money we have still in our BMO,” Caleb told CBC.

“I still feel scared that money is not safe.

“There are many sleepless nights.

BMO insisted in a statement it was “determined to help Canadians defend themselves against scams.”

“We are always open to reviewing cases when new information becomes available and will be reaching out to our customer to discuss this matter.”
