Shortly after the wreck, the car began to catch on fire as Magnussen walked under his own power into the medical car.

The race was red-flagged after the incident with 35 of the 71 laps completed.

Magnussen became the second retirement of the day after Red Bull driver Sergio Perez wrecked before the first corner of the race.

After a delay of a little over 20 minutes, the barriers that Magnussen crashed into were repaired and the race began again with a standing start.

Max Verstappen was leading the race at the time of the wreck, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in P2 and P3 behind him.

According to Haas, Magnussen is okay after a check-over, ‘but is being kept a little while longer just for observations.’

Messi who once fashioned a bizarre dazzling tuxedo decided to keep his look more low-key on an evening where he is expected to pick up another individual award and most likely final Ballon d’Or of his career.

The Argentinian showcased a suave black tuxedo while he was joined by his family as they returned to Paris where he formerly played for PSG.

There was a surprise appearance for former Chelsea star and Real Madrid flop Eden Hazard

Liverpool legend Djibril Cisse was at his eye-catching best as he turned up in a white suit and had dyed his hair blue

When asked by TNT Sports how he was enjoying life after football, he said: ‘It’s perfect. It’s perfect. I’m enjoying life and family in the kids.

‘I can do what I want and it’s a perfect life.’

Eden Hazard has admitted that he ‘doesn’t miss playing football’ following his retirement

The former Chelsea star appeared at the 2023 Ballon d’Or red carpet after having announced that he was hanging up his boots earlier this October

The former Chelsea star was reportedly considering making a move back to the Belgian Pro-League

Hazard, had been left without a club after his contract with Madrid was terminated after he had made just 76 appearances for Los Blancos.

The former Chelsea star was reportedly considering making a move to the Belgian Pro-League to play alongside his brother at RWD Molenbeek.

But ultimately opted to retire from professional football and today said he was not missing stepping out onto the pitch.

When asked whether he still watched football, he said: ‘Of course. I have kids. They play football.

‘I watch it on TV when I can. I do other things also but at the moment I don’t miss playing football. Let’s see in a few months.’

The Belgian international scored 110 goals in 352 games for Chelsea, with his highest finish at the Ballon d’Or coming in 2015 where he ranked eighth.

After he was released by Real Madrid in the Summer, he added that he had been enjoying retired life, claiming it was ‘perfect’

But speaking after his retirement earlier this October, Hazard explained his decision in more detail.

‘I had always said that I would stop as soon as I didn’t have fun on the pitch anymore. I didn’t want to go and play somewhere for the money,’ he told L’Avenir.

‘It was the best solution. I didn’t enjoy training anymore… And I wasn’t playing anymore. The decision was simple.

‘In life, you can’t explain everything. I am at peace with myself. I’m happy. I have so many things to do outside of football that I was able to make a serene choice.’

Speaking on the latest edition of Mail Sport’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast, Sutton and football editor Ian Ladyman criticised Nketiah and said some of the Premier League‘s best goalscorers, such as Ian Wright and Alan Shearer, would not have spurned the opportunity to score a fourth goal.

‘The difference between your Shearers, Wrights, Larssons… they wouldn’t be giving the ball away to a team-mate when they can get another goal on their tally,’ Sutton said.

Eddie Nketiah (R) allowed Fabio Vieira (L) to take a penalty in Arsenal’s win over Sheffield Utd

Vieira confirmed on Instagram that his partner, Carina Raquel, had given birth to a baby boy

‘They’d grab the ball, put the ball on the spot and pushed everybody away and saying ‘I’m taking this”.

‘Nketiah was happy with his hat-trick, but Shearer, Wright… they want more. They want four, they want five, they want sixes – and that’s the difference.

‘That’s where Nketiah can improve. If he wants to be a top player, if he wants to lead the line, be the No 9 at Arsenal. Talent-wise I think he’s got it and he’s a brilliant finisher but he’s got to be nasty, he’s got to be ruthless.

‘It shows he’s a nice guy, but nice doesn’t get you to the top.’

Ladyman was also critical as he asked whether we were ‘in the Premier League or Kindergarten’ following the incident at the Emirates.

Sutton said: ‘Yeah, I totally agree. Does he have the skills? Yeah, so he has the skills. Does he have the temperament? I think he needs to get nasty.’

Nketiah’s goals on Saturday were his first in the Premier League since Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Fulham in their third match of the season.

His form for the Gunners under Mikel Arteta earned him his first call-up to the England squad.

Nketiah made his debut for the senior side when he came off the bench in the 1-0 friendly win over Australia at Wembley earlier this month.

Arsenal remain unbeaten and are second in the Premier League, two points behind north London rivals Tottenham.

Chris Sutton (right) and Ian Ladyman questioned Nketiah for giving the penalty to Vieira

His display brought criticism from some online, including Sunday Times journalist Jonathan Northcroft who claimed Anthony was ‘not good enough to start’ while also pointing out that he was ‘Man United‘s second most expensive signing’.

Gary Neville believes that the Glazer family are responsible for signing Brazilian winger Antony (pictured) not Erik ten Hag

Antony was criticised for his performance during United’s 3-0 defeat by Man City on Sunday,  lashing out after a foul on Belgian winger Jeremy Doku at the end of the match

Neville believed that the Glazers have ‘panicked’ in their recruitment in the past and added it was not a good decision to buy him during the end of the 2022-23 campaign

In reply, Phil McNulty added ‘Antony cost Manchester United £80million and no one can blame the Glazers for that. This one is on Ten Hag and United overpaid monstrously.’

Despite that, former United defender Neville, offered his view on those claims on X (formerly Twitter), stating that Man United’s owners were in fact responsible for signing the Brazilian in August 2022 claiming that they had ‘panicked’.

‘Hi Phil,’ he said in response. ‘I get what you’re saying but if the kids ask for something on a continual basis and the parents keep writing the cheque who do you blame?

‘Context on Antony. We’d just lost to Brighton and Brentford and the club was in reactive panic mode as per usual and sanctioned and said “Yes” to Casemiro and Antony.

‘It’s all on the Glazers for complete panic and lack of leadership! They’ve done this for 10 years. CR7 [Cristiano Ronaldo] to City and panic. Alexis [Sanchez] to City and panic.

After having worked under Ten Hag at Ajax, Man United swooped in for the winger, who had scored 12 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions during the 2021-22 season for the Eredivisie side.

It came after United wrapped up the season, losing five of their final 10 matches, including their last two games, a 4-0 loss against Brighton and a 1-0 defeat by Crystal Palace.

Antony joined that summer alongside Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia with the quartet costing approximately £215.1m.

The Glazer family have received much criticism of late for how they have run the club

Neville discussed the decision to sign Antony with several journalists on X (formerly Twitter)

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s new minority shareholder, has also questioned the Glazers’ recruitment strategies

‘Ajax couldn’t believe we’d offered that money [for Antony],’ He added.

‘Owners and Directors sanction deals. Now I agree Antony needs to do better but it was never a deal to do in those circumstances.’

Neville’s comments come amid a storm of criticism that has been levelled against the Glazer family, as problems mount at the club from their form in the league, having won five of their first ten games, to the condition of Old Trafford’s roof, which has been seen leaking in recent weeks.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has recently bought a minority stake in the club, also questioned the club’s decision to buy Casemiro.

Antony, meanwhile, has made nine appearances in total but has failed to get on the scoresheet or provide an assist for the club.

And speaking in an interview with German outlet LTO, Felix Damm – the family’s representative – has given the reason behind the silence from within the camp.

‘It was always about protecting private things,’ Damm said. ‘We considered whether a final report about Michael’s health could be the right way to do this.

It has been 10 years since Michael Schumacher’s skiing accident while on holiday in France

Schumacher, pictured in 2005, won a joint record seven world titles during his storied career

‘But that wouldn’t have been the end of it and there would have had to be constantly updated “water level reports”, and it would not have been up to the family when the media interest in the story stopped.

‘They could pick up on such a report again and again and ask: “And what does it look like now”, one, two, three months or years after the message. If we then wanted to take action against this reporting, we would have to deal with the argument of voluntary self-disclosure.’

Voluntary self-disclosure is the precedent that a person cannot claim the right to privacy if the information being reported or that they are being asked about has been shared publicly by themselves or on their behalf by a representative.

The Schumacher family have had to deal with this on a number of occasions, with close acquaintances discussing the 54-year-old’s condition.

Former FIA president and Schumacher’s close friend Jean Todt has been among those close to the family to talk on Schumacher, but Damm has explained that even this information cannot be shared with the public.

‘If it is not the person concerned himself but friends or acquaintances who disclose private information, it is not a case of “voluntary self-disclosure” of privacy,’ he explained.

‘Therefore, the data subject can defend himself against disclosure of private circumstances even if the information comes from an acquaintance.’

Despite the lack of verified information surrounding Schumacher, there remains a huge interest surrounding th former Formula One star.

Last month, memorabilia from his successful racing career fetched a whopping £2million at auction.

A 159 piece collection, which included helmets, racing suits, bottles of champagne and more, raked in a total of £2,081,341, more than £600,000 over the initial estimate when put under the hammer in RM Sotheby’s auction ‘Full Throttle – The Schumacher Collection’.
