‘Jealous’: Fans Erupt Against Tiger Woods’s Ex-Coach After His Brutal Swing at PGA Tour’s Current Form

This week, Cameron Davis won the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic. Last week, Scottie Scheffler emerged victorious at the Travelers Championship. Both events are part of the PGA Tour and feature a strong lineup of golfers competing in a challenging test of determination and skill. However, a certain someone disagrees—Tiger Woods’s ex-coach, Hank Haney.

The instructor shared a tweet on his X handle (formerly Twitter) while throwing shade at the ‘Corrupt Golf Media.’ He pointed out that no one who is part of the same “has written an article or talked about how it’s easier than ever to win on the PGA Tour,” all the while dubbing it as “one of the many reasons why they are charter members of the CGM.”

This is not the first time Woods’s ex-coach has spoken out against the Corrupt Golf Media. On June 22, he accused them of not caring about the future of golf and focusing instead on ensuring LIV Golf players “pay their consequences” rather than supporting the sport itself.

The fans, meanwhile, weren’t too receptive to the 15-time major champ’s former instructor’s choice of words in the recent tweet. They went ahead to bash out Tiger Woods’s ex-trainer as the community took to the comments section under the tweet.

Golf fans refuse to side with Tiger Woods’s former coach, Hank Haney

Signature events are tournaments with limited fields but feature top players in the men’s circuit with increased prize money and FedEx Cup points, with 700 points awarded to the winner. Moreover, three of the eight designated events include a 36-hole cut, challenging players to qualify for Moving Day.

A fan responded to Woods’s former coach, “Easier compared to what? Signature events are harder for top players to win compared to events over the past 50 years since so many top players are in the same event. Talent used to spread out more making it easier to win. Now LIV is easy. See Taylor Gooch.” He didn’t shy away from bringing out Gooch’s example to prove his point. The LIV Golf Pro has a total of 3 wins in the PIF-funded circuit while boasting only one on the PGA Tour.

Another follower responded, “Hank, you sound like a jealous x girlfriend… move on. The PGA tour is filled with talent and will continue till have great players.” They might have been referring to Cameron Davis or even Scottie Scheffler for that matter. They may have been referring to Cameron Davis or Scottie Scheffler, who currently stands at No. 1 on the OWGR with six wins this season and 13 top-10 finishes.

Other users took this opportunity to comment on LIV Golf’s format. The PIF-funded circuit conducts its event with 54 holes over three days of play, with music playing over the speakers. Even OWGR denied them points due to format issues and uneven player relegation. A fan commented, “It’s easier than ever to win on LIV. Less holes, less players, a quarter of them have never had a PGA tour card and only 4 players get relegated every season.”

Another fan urged the Saudi-backed league to adopt the PGA’s format saying, “This claim could be easier to evaluate if @livgolf_league would play 72 holes with a field of 144 players like the #PGA does imho.“

Recently, Tyrrell Hatton won the 2024 LIV Golf Nashville event with a 19-under overall score after three days of play, dishing out 23 birdies and four bogeys, beating the runner-up by five strokes. However, a user dismissed the achievement saying, “Hatton had 1 win on the PGA tour in 8 years. Won a LIV event after 9 events. Maybe LIV is easier to win on.”

Do you think Hank Haney’s comments make sense, or is he downplaying the achievements of champions on the PGA Tour this season? Let us know what you think.
