From afar, it looks like a white river under the sparkling sunlight, but up close, you can see something unexpected. Anyone who comes to the southern Ural region, on the territory of Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia will not be surprised with a very special “stone river” that “flows” down the slopes of Mount Taganay. The reason this is called the “stone river” because it gathers large rocks, spread evenly along the slopes of Mount Taganay, creating an interesting scene.

Most of them are quartzite, including Aventurine (a type of quartz chalcedony, characterized by their opacity and metallic inclusions), each with mass. to each 9-10 tons.

These layers of rock are up to 6 meters thick. The special thing is that when approaching the rocky river, one can hear the sound of water flowing very clearly. This sound is caused by small streams of water flowing through rock crevices. However, this is not the only rocky river in the world. Similar stony rivers have also been found in the Ural Mountains and the Vitosha Mountains, Bulgaria. One of the longest stony rivers is about 2 km, located in the Subalpine Plateau, Zlatnite Mostove, upper Vladayska River, Bulgaria.

They have been lying motionless for thousands of years.
