Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie are stepping further into the royal spotlight with a newly released portrait that has fans praising the couple’s elegance and quiet chemistry ahead of their upcoming overseas visit.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will travel to Portugal beginning June 1 for a three-day visit celebrating the historic relationship between the U.K. and Portugal, including the 640th anniversary of the Treaty of Windsor — one of the world’s oldest diplomatic alliances still in effect today.
In the newly shared portrait, Sophie is seen leaning gently against Edward as the couple smiles warmly for the camera in a rare and intimate royal image captured by photographer Millie Pilkington, who has worked closely with the Royal Family on several occasions.
The portrait arrives shortly after Edward and Sophie appeared alongside King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Kate, and Princess Anne in a special royal family portrait honoring what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday. Prince Andrew was notably absent following his removal from royal duties amid ongoing controversy surrounding his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
