Nike have released the seventh version of their Mercurial Dream Speed boots series, this time inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo‘s prime at Manchester United.
The bold red and orange design is a nod to the pair Ronaldo wore in the 2008-09 season with United, prior to heading to Real Madrid.
Nike’s latest 007 pair – which have nothing to do with James Bond – feature lots of black X patterns on the heel, while the famous swoosh logo is white with a prominent black border.
Said to be inspired by ‘fiery energy’, the latest boots pay homage to the boots Ronaldo scored his first Man United hat-trick in.
The Portuguese superstar scored a triple at home in a 6-0 win against Newcastle United in a similarly coloured mandarin boot.

It is expected that a handful of the game’s biggest names will now turn to the latest Zoom Mercurial design.
Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappé, and possibly Darwin Núñez are among male players who could sport them.
On the women’s side, Nike ambassadors Sam Kerr, as well as Norway’s Caroline Graham and Ada Hegerberg, could pull the Ronaldo-inspired boots on.
The technicalities of the boots mean they feature a new football plate with a 3/4 Zoom Air unit specifically designed for football.

The upper part of the boot is made from Vaporposite+ material to improve ball control.
In addition, Nike say that the boots’ tri-star studs provide multi-directional traction, and the toe-off center studs offer traction during explosive starts.
Nike’s Mercurial Dream Speed series began back in 2019, hailed then as a special edition design for Nike’s top stars.
Fronted by Cristiano Ronaldo, the boots became a hit and they are now into their seventh evolution.
