Ranking Sandra Bullock’s horror movies from worst to best.

While Sandra Bullock hasn’t made many horror movies, but she’s had some big successes in the genre, including Netflix’s 2018 hit Bird Box.

Here’s every Sandra Bullock Horror Movie, ranked from worst to best. Speed from 1994 proved to be Bullock’s breakout role, following parts in movies like Demolition Man. Despite becoming a movie star, Bullock has never totally found herself typecast in a particular role. She found success with rom-coms like While You Were Sleeping or Two Weeks’ Notice, but she’s appeared in thrillers like A Time To Kill, sci-fi epics like Gravity or Oscar-winning dramas such as The Blind Side.

Bullock has a surprisingly diverse list of credits. She’s also sworn off sequels to her own work, following bad experiences with Speed 2: Cruise Control – which Keanu Reeves rejected – and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous. While she doesn’t have many horror credits to her name, she has appeared in a unique trilogy of genre outings.

In fact, one of her horror efforts became a breakout success for Netflix and inspired its own (strange) social media challenge.

Sandra Bullocks Horror Movies Ranked

3. Premonition (2007)

Premonition is the most mediocre Sandra Bullock horror movie and has since faded from the collective consciousness. That’s despite the fact the supernatural thriller actually did quite well, grossing over four times its budget. Premonition cast Bullock as a woman whose husband dies in an accident, only for her to wake the next day and discover he’s alive before she realizes she’s experiencing the days leading to his death out of order. While Bullock’s performance grounds the film and it has an intriguing premise, Premonition is ultimately leaden and kind of dull.

2. The Vanishing (1993)

Sandra Bullock – whose next movie is Bullet Train – appeared in six movies in 1993, leading up to her breakout role in Speed the next year. In The Vanishing, she played Diana, the girlfriend of Kiefer Sutherland’s Jeff, who vanishes in the opening scene. The film remade a Dutch thriller of the same name, which features one of the darkest endings in cinema history. George Sluizer returned as the director of the remake, which is a solid thriller featuring a disquieting performance from Jeff Bridges as the villain. However, The Vanishing remake is ultimately a glossy xerox of the haunting original, while the happy ending bolted onto it being rightfully reviled as it undermines the entire point of the story.

1. Bird Box (2018)

Bird Box is still one of Netflix’s biggest original films and the best Sandra Bullock Horror Movie. The story is set in a world where mysterious creatures appear that, if looked upon, drive people to suicide. It’s a unique hook for a horror film, and Bird Box features some intense sequences. That said, the film suffers from some stilted dialogue and contrived plot developments. Bird Box is a great concept, but unlike A Quiet Place – another 2018 hit it was often compared with – all the pieces don’t quite fit together.
