It would seem that DC Studios had no choice but to keep her on the project, with filming having already finished when all of this came to light. As a way to avoid controversy from fans, the Studio made the decision to keep her appearance in this film as minimal as possible. The decision to keep Amber Heard in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was one that was very controversial for DC. Many were upset at the fact that her character wasn’t removed or recast, as was done for Johnny Depp’s role in The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise. As a way to make up for this, her appearance in the film has been kept to a minimum and when the first trailer for this film finally came out, her character wasn’t seen for too long, appearing for a fraction of a second, as to not upset the fans even more.
