Craque Neto has now claimed that Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Gabriel Moscardo.
They told SCCP News that while the fee is unknown, a deal has been struck to see them bring in the highly-rated youngster.
Chelsea have been hot on the pursuit of Moscardo since last summer, when they saw an effort to bring him in not come to fruition.
It was claimed at the time that they had made their move for a fee in the region of £26m, however this did not see them complete the deal.
It has been widely claimed that Chelsea are facing a lot more competition for this youngster than they have for any of their additions in this category before.
Barcelona are reportedly obsessed by the prospect of the deal, seeing the teenager as the next player to play in the Sergio Busquets role.
Deal agreed for Moscardo
However, it seems as if Chelsea now have the upper hand in completing a deal for Moscardo, with Neto informing SCCP news that a deal has been reached between the Blues and Corinthians.
They said: “Gabriel Moscardo, 18-year-old midfielder from Corinthians, sold to Chelsea.
“Neto did not provide the value, but it should exceed R$100 million. This amount will be placed on Duilio Monteiro Alves’ 2023 balance sheet, regardless of the payment method.”
While there are no doubts about both the talent and future of the Brazilian, some supporters may be scratching their head over the choice to sign another midfielder if true.
Behind Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, the Blues have the likes of Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu, Andrey Santos and Cesare Casadei all as part of the squad.
The latter two are currently enduring tough loan spells, and this unfortunately could well have an effect on their futures at Stamford Bridge.
