Paris Hilton shares throwback photos of her ‘fun memories’ with former party pal Britney Spears in honor of the singer’s 41th birthday

Paris Hilton wished her longtime pal Britney Spears a happy 41th birthday by sharing a series of throwback snaps, mostly from a wild night more than 14 years ago.

Among the snaps of them partying, when they were both still in their mid-twenties, the hotel heiress included an iconic shot, which she previously said proves they invented the selfie in 2006.

While plenty of people have debunked her claim of innovating the popular type of photography, the duo regularly served as Hollywood’s biggest trendsetters in the early 2000s.

While sporting a glowing tan, the socialite can be seen embracing her friend, who wore a white button-down and black tie around her neck.

To further honor the birthday girl, Hilton included two glamorous collages of them in her Instagram video, which she paired with the mother-of-two’s hit track Piece Of Me.

The blonde pair have been close for many years, and Paris opened up about Britney’s personality and their friendship on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live show in September.

She said: ‘I saw her this summer. We’ve had dinners, I saw her in Malibu. I just love her so much. She is so sweet and so innocent and such a nice girl. We just talk about happy things. Music, fashion… fun things.

‘I never like to bring up negative things and make people feel uncomfortable so I’ve never talked about [the conservatorship] with her,’ she added.

Paris was referring to Britney’s conservatorship, which is controlled by her father and began in 2008 following her infamous 2007 breakdown where she shaved her head at a salon in Tarzana, California.

Britney subsequently lost custody of her children and was placed under a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold in 2008 at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, which spawned the need for a conservatorship by her father.

Paris also shared her thoughts on the conservatorship with host Andy, saying: ‘I feel like if you are an adult you should be able to live your life and not be controlled.’

‘I think that maybe stems from me being controlled so much so I can understand how that would feel and I can’t imagine right now if that was still happening to me,’ Paris continued.

She furthered: ‘After just working your whole life and working so hard, she’s this icon and I just feel like she has no control of her life whatsoever and I just don’t think that’s fair.’

Paris has faced her own challenges, as she opened up about her past trauma in her documentary This Is Paris, which was released in September.

The reality star said that she was abused and subject to ‘torture’ during her time at Utah’s Provo Canyon School as a child.

She revealed she was verbally, emotionally and physically abused during her time at the school.

Other stars have spoken out about their experiences at that school or others like it, including Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris Jackson and tattoo artist Kat Von D.
