Gal Gadot is developing Wonder Woman 3 in collaboration with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, as she revealed in a recent interview with ComicBook.com. She expressed her love for the character and the project, stating, “It’s so close to and dear to my heart.”
The performer first portrayed the DC Comics superheroine in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Lynda Carter had previously played the character in the 1975-1979 Wonder Woman TV series. Gadot reprised her role in the successful 2017 standalone film Wonder Woman, alongside Chris Pine and Robin Wright, which grossed almost $823 million globally. She also appeared as Wonder Woman in the 2017 film Justice League, starring alongside Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Jason Momoa.
Gadot reprised her role as Wonder Woman in the 2020 film Wonder Woman 1984, for which she also served as a producer. The movie received a mixed critical response and didn’t match the financial success of its predecessor. She also appeared as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League, released on HBO Max in the same year. Recently, the performer made a cameo as the character in Shazam! Fury Of The Gods.
Development on Wonder Woman 3 was initially revealed to the public in 2019 when director Patty Jenkins spoke about the possibility of a follow-up to Wonder Woman 1984. Although the movie was greenlit in 2020, Jenkins was eventually removed from the project due to the restructuring of the DC Extended Universe by Gunn and Safran. However, Gadot remained involved, and she recently told Entertainment Tonight that “things are being worked behind the scenes.” As of now, Wonder Woman 3 does not have a planned release date.
