Taylor Swift fans have unearthed a photo of the pop star posing with an personalized Kansas City Chiefs jersey eight years before she began dating NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce.

The 12-time Grammy Award winner began dating Kelce around three months ago and has been spotted cheering on the Chiefs star at four of his games after he attempted to give her his number on a friendship bracelet during her Eras Tour show at Arrowhead Stadium in July.

But it appears Swift’s connection to the Chiefs dates further back than this summer after a photo of the pop sensation holding a personalized Kansas City jersey re-emerged this week.

During her wildly successful 1989 Tour in September 2015, Swift also made a stop in Kansas City to perform at Arrowhead – the home of the Chiefs – and met then-quarterback Chase Daniel.

Daniel, who played as the Chiefs’ signal caller from 2013 to 2018, and his wife Hillary gifted Swift with a No. 89 jersey, in honor of the Grammy award-winning 1989 album, which was named after the year she was born in.

The retired NFLer shared the photo of him and his wife posing with the global superstar and her jersey to X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption: ‘Thank u @taylorswift13 4 hosting us last night. We gave Taylor her own @chiefs jersey 4 the 1989 Tour!’

However, eight years later, the ever-investigative Swifties have unearthed the post and sent the photo viral, tying the invisible string to her current NFL beau, Kelce.

Daniel saw the funny side in the renaissance of his tweet, quote tweeting his eight-year-old post: ‘The #Swifties found this post & are circulating it…my life is about to change.’

The Swifties were quick to flood his comments with some thanking him for his ‘service’ and others jokingly apologizing for ‘what’s about to come’.

‘Putting you on the map,’ a social media user joked, referring to the internet trend that was sparked by her fans claiming Swift helped raise Kelce’s profile with their relationship. 

One Chiefs fan account pointed out it would have been even more iconic if Daniel had gifted Swift a No. 87 jersey – Kelce’s number.

He posted: ‘Had that been an #87 Jersey Chase you would be the new Nostradamus! @ChiefsBlitz How ironic would that have been!!!’

However, it appears Daniel needs to brush up on his Swiftie folklore as a fan’s reference went over his head.

‘Sorry but the invisible string here is just so>>,’ one Swiftie wrote, citing Swift’s song ‘Invisible String’ from her 2020 ‘Folklore’ album. ‘I don’t get it…,’ Daniel responded.

Swift has worn various pieces of Chiefs merchandise, including a $112 Kansas City windbreaker designed by NFL reporter and DWTS alum Erin Andrews, to rep her man.

The ‘Anti-Hero’ hitmaker has been the star attraction at several of Kelce’s Chiefs game this season, cheering on her new boyfriend from the stands at Arrowhead three times, as well as supporting him alongside her celebrity posse at MetLife Stadium when Kansas City played the New York Jets.

But one fan’s reference to Swift’s song ‘Invisible String’ appeared to go over Daniel’s head

However, she recently has had to put cheerleading duties to one side as she returned to the stage for the South American leg of her wildly popular Eras Tour earlier this month.

Swift entertained the masses once again as she performed her sold-out show in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

But after wrapping up the hit tour for the year, Swift immediately jetted to Kansas City to reunite with the two-time Super Bowl winner and spend some quality time together ahead of the Chiefs game this Sunday.

The reigning Super Bowl champions take on the Packers this Sunday at Lambeau Field but it is currently unclear if Swift will make the trip to Green Bay, Wisconsin.
