Even decades after Bewitched first enchanted viewers, the sitcom’s cast continues to be remembered fondly. Airing from 1964 to 1972, the series followed Samantha Stephens, a witch trying to live a normal suburban life with her mortal husband Darrin, played by Dick York and later Dick Sargent. Elizabeth Montgomery – Samantha Stephens
Elizabeth Montgomery’s charming nose twitch and expressive eyebrows made Samantha Stephens unforgettable. Her work on Bewitched earned her five Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nods. After the sitcom ended, Montgomery pursued more serious roles, starring in projects like A Case of Rape, The Legend of Lizzie Borden, and The Awakening Land. She was also active in liberal causes, including AIDS awareness and political documentaries. Montgomery passed away from colon cancer in 1995 at age 62.
Agnes Moorehead – Endora
Agnes Moorehead, who played the mischievous witch Endora, had a long career before Bewitched, including co-hosting the Oscars in 1948. She passed away from uterine cancer in 1974 at age 73, which she believed was linked to her work on the film The Conqueror.
Dick York – Darrin Stephens (Seasons 1–5)
Dick York starred as the original Darrin Stephens but left the show due to chronic pain and injuries from on-set accidents. He later struggled with addiction to painkillers and had brief television roles in the early 1980s. York died in 1992 at age 63.
Dick Sargent – Darrin Stephens (Seasons 6–8)
Dick Sargent took over the role of Darrin for the final three seasons. After Bewitched, he continued acting in film and TV, including Hardcore and Parts: The Clonus Horror, and supported various charitable causes. In 1991, he publicly came out as gay and participated in the Los Angeles Gay Pride parade alongside Montgomery in 1992. Sargent passed away in 1994 at age 64.
Erin and Diane Murphy – Tabitha Stephens
Twins Erin and Diane Murphy played Samantha and Darrin’s daughter, Tabitha. Erin continued to work in commercials and later became a TV host, while Diane pursued a career outside entertainment as an analyst for a medical device company. Erin expressed interest in appearing in the upcoming Bewitched reboot.
David White – Larry Tate
David White played Darrin’s boss, the advertising executive Larry Tate, throughout all eight seasons. He continued acting in TV and film until his death in 1990 at age 74.
George Tobias – Abner Kravitz
George Tobias portrayed the nosy neighbor Abner Kravitz for seven seasons. He retired in 1977 and passed away from bladder cancer in 1980 at age 78.
Sandra Gould – Gladys Kravitz
Sandra Gould took over as Abner’s wife Gladys after the death of the original actress, Alice Pearce. She continued making guest appearances on TV until her death from a stroke in 1990 at age 82.
Kasey Rogers – Louise Tate
Kasey Rogers played Louise Tate, Darrin’s wife and Samantha’s friend. Prior to Bewitched, she appeared in films such as Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train and in Peyton Place. Rogers retired from acting after the series and died in 2006 at age 80 from throat cancer.
