A Tennessee grand jury has indicted former NFL linebacker Darron Lee on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Gabriella Perpetuo. The indictment marks a major development in a homicide investigation that began after authorities discovered Perpetuo dead inside her Ooltewah, Tennessee, home in February 2025.
According to investigators, emergency responders were called to the residence after reports of a medical emergency. When authorities arrived, they found 29-year-old Perpetuo suffering from severe injuries. Medical examiners later determined she had sustained multiple blunt-force injuries, including fractures, hematomas, and stab wounds. The death was ruled a homicide, prompting detectives to launch a full-scale criminal investigation.
As investigators processed the scene, they collected physical evidence, reviewed communications, and interviewed witnesses connected to the couple. Authorities focused on reconstructing the hours leading up to Perpetuo’s death, examining digital records and forensic evidence gathered from the residence. Prosecutors later alleged that the evidence pointed to Lee as the person responsible for the fatal attack.
