Transfer Focus: Liverpool sign on ‘Dominant’ £15M Centre-Back, Known for Exceptional Speed Surpassing Luis Diaz

Prior to the January transfer window, Liverpool is allegedly targeting Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen.

The Reds believe a deal for the 27-year-old could be completed in the upcoming weeks, according to 90Min.

According to reports, Liverpool also thinks the Germany international could easily transition into the team when needed.

After Joel Matip suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury earlier this month, the Reds could definitely need strengthening their defense lineup.

There is definitely room to sign a replacement center back in the upcoming weeks, even though Jurgen Klopp has downplayed the idea.

The injury-prone Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, and the relatively untested Jarell Quansah are the Liverpool manager’s present alternatives.

Jonathan Tah, one of the world’s fastest defenders, would be joining Liverpool.

Tah has been playing well for Leverkusen in the interim, but curiosity over his future never seems to go away.

Given that his contract expires in the summer of 2025, the club may only be able to obtain a sizable amount during the January transfer window.

Tah had a rumored €18 million (£15 million) release clause last summer, according to a recent statement from Fabrizio Romano on X.

But Kicker later stated in the summer that moving ahead, the 6′ 4in powerhouse shouldn’t cost much more than that.

Tah is a 27-year-old who is still very much in his peak and has a lot of top-level experience. He would therefore be a fantastic choice for Liverpool.

The “dominant” player has 16 caps for Germany and more than 300 senior games for Leverkusen.

He was formerly regarded by Joachim Low as a defender for whom “everything is possible” since he was “physically strong and very quick.”

It’s important to note that Tah is currently the fourth fastest player in the division with a season-high pace of 35.81 km/h, according to the Bundesliga website.

Luis Diaz’s season-long best, by contrast, was 35.52 km/h. Furthermore, Kieran Tierney, who was the league’s quickest defense the previous season, was just slightly quicker at 35.99 km/h.
