Aaron Rodgers, while on the Look Into It podcast with Eddie Bravo, revealed that he sees himself playing as many as four more years in the NFL, which would take him to 44 years old.
As if he were reelecting a president, Evan celebrated the comments from the Jets quarterback, and sees it as a cause to celebrate when assessing the long-term future of Gang Green.
“Four more years! For either that old guy, or this old guy! Guess what, I got four more years out of my old guy,” Evan said. “What that does, and what that proves to anyone out there who has any doubts…it tells me I’m not thinking about the future at quarterback, because I don’t have to. The future at quarterback just told me he’s gonna be here for four more years.
“In 2024, Aaron Rodgers just told us he’s not even thinking about retirement. ‘I’m not only playing this year, but I’m playing the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that.’ That gives me peace.”
With that in mind, Evan says drafting a quarterback and thinking about the future is “stupid,” because the quarterback position is set for years to come, and it’s time to bolster the rest of the roster and prepare to contend.
“That window may be a little more open than people realize,” Evan said. “If the mentality is there to play four more years – his words, not mine – then I am ready to wrap my legs around Aaron Rodgers and say, ‘Go do it, bro.’”
