Bryce James has transferred back to Sierra Canyon and is picking up where he left off
In a notable comeback, Bryce James has rejoined Sierra Canyon High School’s basketball team, signaling a significant boost for the squad’s current season. After a series of transfers, James marked his return with an impressive performance, demonstrating his evolving skill set and re-establishing himself as a key player for the team.
James, a 6-foot-4 guard known for his versatility on the court, has navigated a unique journey back to Sierra Canyon. His path included stints at Campbell Hall High School and Notre Dame High School, where he played alongside talents like Mercy Miller. However, his return to Sierra Canyon was facilitated by the CIF Southern Section’s A-B-A rule, allowing him immediate eligibility.
This season, James‘ influence was immediately felt in Sierra Canyon’s commanding 86-24 victory over Moorpark High School, where he scored six points, provided three assists, and showcased his defensive prowess with two steals and a block.
Justin Pippen, a rising star and teammate of James, expressed his enthusiasm about James’ return: “It’s really great to have Bryce back,” highlighting James’ ability to enhance the team’s dynamics. Pippen, who has seen remarkable growth and has received offers from prestigious programs, led the team with 19 points in their recent win.
James is starting to receive interest from top college programs
Another crucial aspect of Sierra Canyon’s success is the presence of Bryce Cofield, James‘ AAU teammate. The duo’s chemistry, honed over the summer, is expected to significantly contribute to the team’s performance this season. Cofield, a skilled 6-5 junior guard, has already made his mark by scoring 18 points in their recent game.
James‘ talent has also garnered attention beyond high school basketball, with unofficial visits to Ohio State and USC. His older brother, Bronny, set a high benchmark at Sierra Canyon, finishing his senior season as a McDonald’s All-American before moving to USC.
With a 5-0 record, Sierra Canyon is gearing up for the Hoophall West in Arizona, where they will face Desert Mountain. The team’s depth, bolstered by the return of Bryce James and the presence of other key players, positions them as a dominant force once again in the high school basketball scene.
